  1. WELCOME TO THE PAGESTREAM 3.0h2 GERMAN FREE UPDATE!

  4. You must have the German version of 3.0h to use this patch.
  5.  
  6. There are two files in this update. You must download and decompress
  7. both PGS3H21D.LHA and PGS3H22D.LHA before you can use this update.
  8.  
  9. This update requires disk 1 of your original PageStream3 disk set.
  10. It will not be modified by the update.
  11.  
  12. You must have sufficient free hard drive space to use this patch. 3MB
  13. of free space is recommended.
  14.  
  15. This update requires that PageStream 3.0h German be installed on
  16. your hard drive.
  17.  
  18. This patch does not update your help files. An archive called
  19. Help.LHA is left in 3.0h2Update with the English help files that
  20. have changed in this version. You may use these if you wish.

  23. USING THIS PATCH
  24. ----------------
  25.  
  26. Once you have 3.0h correctly installed, decompress PGS3H21D.LHA and
  27. PGS3H22D.LHA to the same directory. Decompress them both to RAM: if
  28. you have sufficient memory.
  29.  
  30. IF YOU HAVE 5MB OR MORE OF RAM, you can decompress the archives to
  31. RAM and not worry about memory limitations.
  32.  
  33. IF YOU HAVE 4MB OF RAM, you can decompress the archives to RAM, but
  34. you must delete the archives from RAM before running the patch.
  35. (Copy them somewhere safe in case you need them again!)
  36.  
  37. IF YOU HAVE 3MB OF RAM, you cannot decompress the archives to RAM.
  38. Decompress them to your hard drive.
  39.  
  40. A drawer called "3.0h2Update" will be created when you decompress
  41. the patches. Both archives contain this Read.1st! file, so your
  42. decompression program will ask if you it is ok to overwrite the
  43. first Read.1st! file; this is normal. Double click on the
  44. Install-PageStream3.0h2 icon in this drawer to begin.
  45.  
  46. YOU SHOULD KEEP A COPY OF THE PATCH FILES UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE
  47. SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED THIS UPDATE IN CASE YOU NEED TO RUN IT AGAIN
  48. OR MANUALLY. If you delete them after decompressing them, and
  49. something goes wrong during patching, you will have to download them
  50. again! If you have adequate hard drive space, simply select the
  51. PageStream3 directory and choose Copy from the Workbench's Icon menu
  52. to make a complete duplicate of your PageStream3 directory. If you
  53. have a problem with the patch, you will have a backup to restore.
  54.  
  55. TECHNICAL NOTES: this update will patch the PageStream3, BME and
  56. PageLiner program files in your PageStream3: directory. Every other
  57. file changed from 3.0h is included. If you own the TrueType and/or
  58. Wordworth document filters, they will be patched to the new versions
  59. by this patch.

  61. LOW MEMORY NOTES: If you do not have enough memory to install this
  62. patch (the SAS patch utility will fail if there is not enough free
  63. memory), you can conserve memory by decompressing the patch archives
  64. to your hard drive instead of to RAM:. If the patch fails due to low
  65. memory, you will not be able to use PageStream3 until you have
  66. successfully installed the patch because you will then have a
  67. mixture of 3.0h and earlier files. If you need to run the patch
  68. manually, decompress the PGSpatch.LHA (or BMEpatch.LHA or
  69. PLpatch.LHA files as applicable) archive found in the PGS3H21.LHA
  70. file. Use the spatch utility from this archive. The command syntax
  71. is:

  73. spatch -oPageStream3:PageStream3.0h2 -pPageStream.pch PageStream3:PageStream3
  74.  
  75. spatch -oPageStream3:BME2.0d -pBME.pch PageStream3:BME
  76.  
  77. spatch -oPageStream3:PageLiner2.0f -pPageLiner.pch PageStream3:PageLiner
  78.  
  79. The first parameter is the new version, the second parameter is the
  80. patch file name (include the path if required), and the third
  81. parameter is the currently installed version of PageStream3. Delete
  82. the old version (PageStream3, BME or PageLiner) when you're done and
  83. then rename the new version to the old version (ie, PageStream 3.0h2
  84. to PageStream3).

  86. UPDATE OPTIONS: you can get the latest version of the PageStream3.0
  87. seven disk set at any time for $10 from Soft-Logik sales.
  88.  
  89. If you have previously compressed the PageStream3, BME or PageLiner
  90. program files with something such as PowerPacker, you will probably
  91. not be able to use this patch, even if you decompress them.
